Hi there, firstly, I would like to thank you for the notes, it has made my life considerably easier. I am doing bachelor of commerce with a major in Finance. I have my exam coming up soon and was wondering if you had any notes on how to structure an answer to an exam question? My exam questions are going to be much easier than that of someone doing Law but any help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks

Legal conversion

Hey guys,

Awsum site discovered it this morning and has been really helpfull!! I was just wondering whether there are any other students that have done a conversion ( qualified lawyer in South Africa, now need to qualify in OZ). I have just arrived in Australia two weeks ago, being admitted as Lawyer in South Africa about two months ago, however due to political and other frustrations there decided to come to Oz, permanent resident here. Now I have had my qualifications assessed by the LPAB, and need to do certain areas of knowledge as well as practical legal training all over again.

Thinking of doing it online through Queensland University of Technology, and try law school at College of Law Queensland.

So any advice on the studies, law school and work would be great? Thinking of finding work as paralegal or some other position in law firm so long just to gain some experience at least?

Hey Tim, Just a question on your Property notes. I can't find the relevant case or statutory provisions regarding land below the surface. On your notes you mention it is 100 below the surface but I cannot find where you have sourced this from. Thanks

Some firms are still open for applications whereas others closed in July.

Partnership question

What are the consequences of Partners changing a partnership into a company without the consent of one of the parties [contravention of the partnership act which requires you to get consent of all partners]. They didn't wind up the partnership and didn't inform the partner as he was "uncontactable", but left him out of incorporations. When he did contact them and ask them how the business was going they responded- good, hopefully. no mention of incorporation.

Hello,

I really need help with a very tough question!!

lets say that there was a partnership to set up a social network. and
one of the partners goes away for university commitments and while he is
away the other parties incorporate, become directors and shareholders
and leave him out completely!

What can he do? and lets say out of 3 of his partners he only thinks one
is to blame. and they haven't wound up the partnership.

your help would be muchly appreciated.
